Legendary TV and Radio personality Bob Mabena has passed away. He died of cardiac arrest Monday afternoon

According to, Briefly, Mabena's career began in 1989 at Radio Bop in the Republic of Bophuthatswana, where he hosted afternoon and morning shows. He also had a music video show on Bop TV. He ventured into television during the three years he spent in the North West.
Zane Derbyshire, East Coast Radio Programming Manager, said: It is indeed a sad day when a true icon of the radio industry passes away. Today is such a day as South Africa bids farewell to Bob Mabena. Bob was one of those rare talents, a star behind the mic, bold in leadership roles and brave in the boardroom. I was on a ‘Radio Days Africa’ panel with Bob two weeks ago, and I was reminded of his all-round brilliance. He was his usual cheeky self and full of life. We are indeed poorer for his loss.
Nick Grubb, Chief Executive of Radio at Kagiso Media, said: Bob made an impact wherever he worked - whether it was radio, the music industry, or his time as a club DJ. His influence and legacy were significant, and we are all better for having heard him, worked with him, or known him and his energetic and positive approach to life. RIP Bob.
A renowned television and radio host, his presence will truly be missed.
