#Boardroom101: How company cultures affect you

"Most young people seeking my advice are frustrated by the culture of the company they work for," says Hixonia Nyasulu.

It is a culture where your hard work is not acknowledged, where people development is not seen as a priority; where the bosses still shout at employees in front of others or, worse still, in front of customers; a culture that lacks transparency, etc.
I tell them that the culture of a company can either help you thrive, or it can destroy you. In selecting a company to work for, do we ever take time to read up on its culture, talk to current employees or customers, etc?
If our values, and those that drive the culture of that company, are misaligned, then nothing good will come out of that relationship.
