Coming together to help those in need...
Welcome to the new month of June and another edition of The Big Favour with Darren, Keri, and Sky.
The recent #KZNFloods once again showed us the spirit of Ubuntu in KZN. Communities came together and continue to do so to help those in need.

Premilla Deonath is the chairperson of Merewest Community Foundation. She wrote to us as the foundation needs assistance to help those who suffered in the #KZNFloods. The area of Merewest and Lamontville were hit badly.
The houses in Sialkot Crescent, Merewest Navy were the worst hit and almost all houses were under the flood waters. This is what Premilla and her team had to deal with as there were many problems, but with little funding to help the organisation fulfil its role amongst the community members.
Take a listen to Premilla talk about the difficult road they have faced as an NPO:
Those who had furniture, bedding, groceries, clothing, and other appliances were all damaged from the floods. At Merewest Community Foundation, they had to assist in evacuating everyone to a hall for shelter.
They appeal to anyone with food and old clothes to donate to the organisation for them to give out to the people who have been hit by the floods.

After listening to the story as well as words from Premilla, many businesses and people in the community stretched out their hands to try help this Non-Profit Organisation.
Oxford Fresh Market has answered the call to help the community organisation of Merewest.
Patrick Hyland, the Executive Creative & Marketing Director, listened to the pain of the NPO trying to help the community and they have reached out to us to offer some relief for this organisation.
