Are you booked for a flight to the UK? Here's what to do...
Updated | By Darren, Keri and Sky
It is advisable to hold off on traveling for the next few weeks.
The results of the UK's decision to ban South Africa from traveling will have an unfortunate consequence on the South African travel sector. It's even more stressful if you or any of your family members were book to visit the country to see family and friends for the holidays.
A travel agency owner, Jennifer Morris, shared important information for all the people travelling to the UK in a Facebook post.

According to her expert advice, here is what needs to be done:
- She suggested that travellers reschedule if they were due to depart in the next two days.
- Those planning to travel on a South African passport with a non-immigrant visa (i.e a tourist visa) are urged to cancel their trip until South Africa is removed from the red list. If you are due to travel on a UK/EU passport or have a settlement visa (ancestral, spousal, dependent, work visa), then you are allowed to enter the UK but will have to quarantine for 10 days on arrival at a cost of £2250 which is R48 856 or so.
- If you are already in the UK, you will be allowed to leave to return to South Africa as long as the airlines continue to service the route you are booked on. If you are a UK resident in South Africa, you will be allowed to return as soon as the travel ban is lifted, but will have to quarantine for 10 days on arrival at the same cost as the above.
- Morris shared that travellers who wished to travel to the UK via elsewhere will have to spend at least 10 days in a non-red list country before entering the UK to avoid quarantine. They would need to be holders of UK/EU passports or settlement visas.
