Animal shelter asks kids to read to orphaned dogs
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
This must be the cutest book club ever to exist, and the dogs love it.

An animal shelter in the United States has launched an educational program that invites kids to read to animals waiting to be adopted.
The Humane Society of
Missouri says that the program helps the animals become more
comfortable with potential adopters approaching their space, and they enjoy the company of kids.

This great initiative is called Shelter Buddies Reading Program, and it also helps give the children greater empathy for the pups.
This is an opportunity for the children to learn about the body language of animals, so that they can tell if the dogs are stressed or shy. They also learn to nurture the animals that need attention by reading a book aloud.
