Taylor Swift threatens legal action as student tracks her movements

It may not be the everyday habit of the rich and wealthy of SA, but overseas, celebs seem to regularly jet set.

With travel becoming much more accessible and business booming post COVID-19 lockdowns, it's a no-brainer that some would opt for a short jet trip to save their valuable time. 

Many want to live their most boujee and convenient life, but at what cost? Taylor Swift has been named one of the biggest causes of CO2 emissions.

In order for Taylor to seamlessly perform The Eras Tour around the world, she needs to be able to move with ease. However, the environmental impact is a major concern to many and has lead to a backlash.

The lawyers representing Taylor Swift have issued a legal threat to a college student in Florida who monitors the private jet movements of celebrities and public figures, including Swift.

Jack Sweeney is the youngster who is behind the accounts that monitor the private jet activities of Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and various other celebrities and public figures. 

Jack confirmed to CNN on Tuesday that he received a cease-and-desist letter threatening legal action from attorneys for Swift about the social media accounts he runs that track Swift's flights.

While some social media users have rallied around Taylor in support of her travel, many environmentalists are having none of it. 

"We need Taylor to travel Swiftly so that she can put on more shows, see Travis and make it in time to receive awards. She has a lot to juggle," shares one online user.

"Unless we urge celebrities to cut down their trips and focus on promoting travel with a better environmental footprint, things are likely to get even worse," says another online user.
