Do not go through life without knowing what's happening in the world around you!

Here are some very important, educational and entertaining things you need to be aware of right now:

117-year-old beats COVID-19

Sister André, born Lucile Randon, is believed to be the second oldest person in the world at the age of 117. As if this wasn't a remarkable feat in itself, she has now recovered from the coronavirus!

She had tested positive for the virus in mid-January but doctors say she has recovered completely only three weeks later.

Flood warnings in KZN

The South African Weather Service has warned residents across the KwaZulu-Natal province, particularly in the northern region, to expect heavy rains and possible flooding this weekend due to a tropical storm. Keep an eye on ecr.co.za for more details.

Cancelled Comrades

The organisers announced on Wednesday that the 2021 edition of the Comrades Marathon, scheduled for June 13, has been cancelled.

The ultra-marathon, celebrating its centenary this year, will continue as a virtual run instead.

The camel urine café

A video announcing the first café specialising in camel urine has been making the rounds on Twitter!

The café is said to be in Saudi Arabia and is sparking major controversy among social media users who find the concept, and the video, offensive.

This is not the first time camel urine has sparked controversy and backlash as the health benefits of the substance has been debated before.

The original video has since been removed and many are questioning whether it was real or fabricated.

Pfizer vaccine headed to SA

Pfizer said it could deliver its COVID-19 vaccine, which requires ultra-cold temperatures for storage and distribution, directly to points of vaccination in South Africa.

The country is currently scrambling to secure supplies after the AstraZeneca vaccine it planned to use to kick off its immunisation campaign showed greatly reduced efficacy against the COVID-19 virus variant now dominant in the country.
