1. China plants flag on the moon
More than 50 years after America planted its flag on the moon, China has followed suit. China didn’t have their own human to put it there though; theirs was planted on the moon by an ascent vehicle. The Chang’e 5’s ascent vehicle touched down on the moon’s surface on Tuesday, December 1, to collect four pounds of rocks and bring them back to Earth.
2. Rage festival ticket sales put on hold
Tickets for the Rage festival in Plettenberg Bay have been halted after a surge in COVID-19 cases was traced back to the Ballito leg. Health Minister Zweli Mkhize dubbed the event a 'super-spreader' on Sunday. He urged attendees of the Rage festivals to consider themselves as a contact and immediately go into a 10-day self quarantine.
3. A group of artists claim they are behind the mystery monoliths
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have heard about the several random monoliths popping up at different locations around the world, and now a group of artists known as The Most Famous Artist have claimed they’re behind it all. In a picture of one of the artists working on one of the monoliths, they captioned it, ‘You mean it wasn’t aliens?!’
4. Man named Adolf Hitler wins local elections in Namibia
A local politician in a small town in northern Namibia has found global fame after winning his local election, and it's all because of his name. Adolf Hitler Uunona was elected with 85% of the votes to emerge the winner in Ompundja, a small town in the far north of the country. He told a German news website that his father gave him the name without understanding who the former German leader was or what he stood for.
