Weirdest job interview questions ever

Weirdest job interview questions ever

There's nothing quite like sitting through an interview where you're confused by the line of questioning in the most unproductive way.

Preparing for a job interview can be both stressful and exciting. It’s a chance to challenge yourself, step out of your comfort zone, and expand your career opportunities.

Many people approach interviews in different ways, but the excitement can quickly turn awkward if the interviewer is not properly prepared or qualified to lead the conversation.

That's the unpredictable nature of interviews: you often don’t have the chance to research your interviewer beforehand. You’re in the hot seat, not knowing who will be evaluating you.

While some professionals take the time to introduce themselves and share a bit about their background to ease the tension, this isn’t always the case, which can make the experience more intimidating.

What's even more challenging is the growing use of AI in many companies, which sometimes leads to interview questions that don’t quite meet the mark for prospective candidates.

With that in mind, today we’re discussing some of the strangest questions people have encountered during job interviews. You might be wondering, how do you answer an unusual question without leaving a negative impression on your interviewer?

There are two ways to approach this. On one hand, some interviewers ask these odd questions to assess how you think and view the world (check out the TikTok video below for an example).

While on the other hand, some questions feel random and unproductive, leaving candidates wondering what they’re really trying to assess.

The second perspective on weird interview questions refers to those that are more confusing than engaging or informative.

For example, questions like these can often be seen as strange or unhelpful.

What's your greatest weakness?
According to Indeed, this sort of question tends to prompt "insincere answers where candidates either mask strengths as weaknesses (for example, 'I work too hard') or give responses that offer little real insight into how successful they’d be in the role."

Where do you see yourself in five years?
This question can be off-putting because career paths aren't always straightforward or based on continuous advancement.

Why should we hire you?
Questions like this tend to result in vague or generic responses that don’t offer meaningful insight into a candidate’s skills or how well they would fit the role.

Check out the video below from  TikTok, which highlights how these strange questions can provide insight into how your mind works.
