WATCH: Man pets a deadly cobra

In a country where people call snake rescuers or catchers to handle unwanted snakes, it is unfathomable to see a man petting a cobra as if it were a puppy.

You might not believe it, but some people genuinely love interacting with snakes and reptiles – so much so that they jump at every opportunity.

We may have found Indonesia’s answer to Nick Evans. Panji Petualang is a fearless snake handler whose video calmly petting a cobra – and even resting his forehead on its head – has gone viral.

Many people have shared their opinions online, saying that they believe he has a special gift for connecting with the cobra in this way.

Some even described it as a “God-given” gift.

His passion for snakes borders on the unbelievable – almost superhuman. The way he handles them with such ease and instinct sends chills down our spines.

While many admire his seemingly innate ability to connect with such a dangerous creature, others have raised eyebrows, calling his actions reckless and life-threatening.

It’s hard not to think of KwaZulu-Natal conservationist Dingo ‘Graham’ Dinkelman, who tragically lost his life after a bite from a green mamba.
