We know and love Tiffany Haddish. Her rise to fame as a female comedian and actress has been immense.

She is also a fierce female who isn't afraid of being the only one in the room who admits to not knowing something.

This was certainly the case for her recently when she posted a video of herself visiting a grocery store in Harare, Zimbabwe

Haddish posted a video on her TikTok sharing her visit to a grocery store in Harare. From the get go she was surprised by the brick and mortar store that had a plethora of fresh fruit and vegetables.

As Africans, we have long known that Americans have a very different view of how we live. There is a popular stereotype that we live amongst the wildlife and according to Tiffany Haddish, some of them believe we only buy our groceries out of stalls.

Her video offended many people who felt like she was ignorant in her approach. As if to say that we are still living in an uncivilised land, but the truth is she was coming in from her perspective on life here.

Plus, she was honest enough to admit that her viewpoint of how Africans live stemmed from the media. She also admitted that they consume this one-sided view and didn't do their homework, therefore sounding "Dumb".

People came for her in the comments section, with one person asking her if she thought Africans ate grass. She responded by saying: "No. But the media had me thinking all of your foods are purchased in our door markets with goats and cows just hanging out waiting to be slaughtered. With all kinds of smells and flies everywhere."

Then another person said: "Girl...the petroleum next to Vaseline is elegance....it's an English word ma'am."

Haddish responded: "I know, see The USA media has Us Americans looking Dumb as hell. So I was showing that by not reading correctly. how Americans especially black ones don’t take the time to read and see for ourselves."

Regardless of her small-minded approach to viewing how we live as Africans, she wasn't completely off the mark.

The thing is that our continent has the modern city life and the farm life and in some towns, these merge. We think it is something we are proud of, it's a part of our heritage, and if Americans look closely, they also have this in the Southern parts of their country.
