Men from an Indian village wash carrots with their feet
Updated | By East Coast Radio
An interesting technique for washing carrots...
We don't usually use our feet to wash our food; in many cultures, your feet are considered dirty or unclean.
Feet attract dirt from wearing closed or open shoes all day. It is the closest part of the body that connects with the ground. People drop things on the ground and pick up the most unbecoming things with their shoes, hence the unclean feet.
And after all that we saw a group of men from a village in India using their feet, with shoes on, to wash carrots before packaging them up for sale.

The video was shared on social media by Saurabh Birari, a foodie and video creator trying to discover food worldwide.
It is not uncommon for Saurabh to share videos of his food experiences on his Instagram page, but this one attracted some controversy. For obvious reasons, of course.
Seeing a group of men washing carrots with muddy river water and their feet (with shoes on) is just plain down disgusting. We don't know how clean their feet or shoes are or whether the water they use is contaminated.
Watch this highly controversial video where Saurabh says that they wash the carrots as part of a long-standing tradition.
