There truly never is a dull moment on our roads.

Getting from point A to B has long been associated with having your own set of wheels. Having a vehicle of your own is an achievement, but what good is it if it limits you?

Of course, the limits we refer to go hand in hand with the rising fuel cost, which extends to how we travel. While some might find it easy and convenient to take their car or public transport, others dare to look for alternate means of travel

This viral video captures the daring spirit of a thrill-seeker – a man in a wheelchair – who chose quite an unconventional (and illegal) method to reach his destination faster and more efficiently.

In the video, a man in a wheelchair grabs onto the rear bull bar of a taxi, using it to speed up as he moves forward.

It’s reminiscent of thrill-seekers on skateboards who latch onto moving vehicles to gain momentum – a practice known as "skitching," a blend of "skateboarding" and "hitching".

But, if we had to coin a term for what this man was doing, we might say he was "wheetching" or "wheelchairing".

While many commenters joked about the scene – identifying the location as Woodlands, Mitchells Plain, Cape Town – there’s no denying that this stunt was dangerous and illegal.
