Man begging at traffic light acts like an amputee

You've got to hand it to him, he saw his opportunity and went for it...

Mzansi is known for its hustle, where most stories are honest and rooted in the humble efforts of people trying to carve out a better life.
But not all hustlers play by the same rules. Some chase money through less-than-honest means, crossing into the realm of scams and amateurish crimes.
These common criminals don't always fit the hero role in their own stories; sometimes, they end up as permanent bottom feeders, unable to climb their way out.
The reality is, some of these common scammers walk among us daily. They can be hiding in plain sight, or slipping in and out of view, leaving us questioning not only their ethics but also their so-called acts of kindness.
Take, for example, the people who beg for money, food, clothes, or anything else at traffic light intersections. How often have we learnt that some of these beggars are either faking injuries or running it as a business?
It's not unlike that man in India who was once dubbed the wealthiest beggar in the world. In 2023, it was reported that he was earning 2,500 rupees (R552) a day through his begging.
What was once a genuine act of kindness has been tainted by scammers taking on the guise of the underprivileged, feeding off the empathy of those willing to help.
But like an actor who puts on a mask during his performance, one man was caught in the middle of his act – pretending to have an amputated arm, using the sympathy of passersby at a South African traffic light to pull at their heartstrings.

In case you miss it – pay attention to his shirt and something bulging out at the back...
