Socks have long been a go-to gift for women unsure of what to buy their husbands or boyfriends. It’s a practical option that seems easy enough – at first glance.

But KZN comedian Andrew Hughes recently shared a public service announcement that might make wives and girlfriends reconsider their sock choices.

In his playful yet insightful message, he highlighted why coloured socks aren't always the best option.

While socks may seem like the simplest, most practical gift, considering factors like comfort, size, and colour can make all the difference.

It might not always be well-received, but we love how comedians tackle the awkward topics couples often shy away from. Just imagine how the "sock" conversation might have gone if he hadn’t lightened it up with a joke.

Speaking of which, we’re all about supporting local talent.

Andrew Hughes, who works at Hyundai Amanzimtoti during the day, is passionate about making people laugh.

Catch him perform alongside Jem Atkins and Mo Vawda at Tiger's Milk Ballito on Thursday, April 10,  2025.
