South African family keeps promise, gifts car to newspaper salesman
Updated | By Damon Beard
A South African family kept their promise five years after it was made, and it has truly restored Damon's faith in humanity.
Listen as Jeremy Olivier talks to Damon about this inspiring story, or read the details under the podcast:
Remember Jeremy Olivier? He was in the very first season of 'The Voice SA', and he won the hearts of many viewers around the nation. Well, three years later and he’s still winning hearts, but this time it’s for something completely different.
Jeremy and his wife met Bongani, a street newspaper salesman, at a traffic light in Cape Town about five years ago, according to Good Things Guy. They quickly became friends. One of the things that they realised was that Bongani did not have transport, which made collecting the newspaper that he sells challenging.

The family made a promise to Bongani that they would gift him their own car when they were able to get a new one, and to his surprise, they kept to their word and gifted him with his first car.
They picked him up and drove him to a nearby parking lot where the whole family was waiting to hand over the car keys to their car, and Bongani's facial expression when he realised what was going down was priceless.
My faith in humanity is restored, and this story is the perfect one to start off a new week.
