While many have looked at this video and said 'aww', some are under the impression that this isn't as cute as it seems...

Was this rodent mistreated? Listen as KZN share their views with Damon in the podcast, then read more below:

I came across a video the other day of a rat taking a 'shower'. Now, at first glance, I didn’t think anything more than, ‘What a cool and smart little rat!'.

But then I watched it again and wondered if there wasn’t 'darker’ side to this video?

The video has gone absolutely viral because let’s be honest - it’s not every day that you see a rodent washing itself underneath a shower like a human would. The thing is, we’re still not sure if this video has been ‘doctored’ or not because in reality, rats don’t need the help of soap and water to stay clean.

According to UNILAD, there is now talk that there is the possibility that someone covered the rodent in soap and it’s potentially getting irritated by it, hence the scratching all over to get rid of the soap.

Reactions from the internet are varied, but in my opinion, something isn’t right here. Could this be animal abuse or are we looking too much into this harmless video?

In saying that, let’s not forget that more than 100-million mice and rats are killed every day in labs during animal testing.

Are you someone that supports companies who test their products on animals or do you merely buy products without thinking about the manufacturing process?

If you’d like to support companies and charities that do not test on animals, you can take PETA’s pledge to be cruelty-free today!

My question to you is: Should the person who lathered up this rodent, if found guilty of animal abuse, be charged for their actions?
