Little boy hit by taxi survives and receives most incredible gift
Updated | By Damon Beard
A little boy who was hit by a taxi made a remarkable recovery and now the Big Favour has decided to celebrate his life in full.
Nabeelah wrote into the Big Favour telling us about four-year-old Luthando, who was hit by a taxi last year while playing in his yard.
He sustained horrific injuries to his leg and at the local hospital his mum was told that they would need to amputate his leg, but this little champ remained strong.
He was hospital-bound for weeks and weeks while undergoing painful operation after operation. Trying to keep it together, his mum Nellie continued to work and would visit him when she could - otherwise he'd lie alone all day in the hospital bed.

After four stressful months, little Luthando is walking again.
(Pause here to break into a cheer!)
Nellie, who works for Nabeelah, mentioned to her that his birthday is in May and although she'd love to give him and his brother (who is also born in May) a birthday party, she just can't afford to do so.
Both boys have never had a birthday party.
It was two phone calls to a few incredible people and the most magical birthday party was arranged.
Werner Marais from the Umgeni River Bird Park (http://www.umgeniriverbirdpark.co.za/) immediately offered his incredible venue for the special day and a specially designated area will be cordoned off for Luthando, his brother, and their friends.
One of the highlights of the park is the free-flight bird show, featuring an ever-changing cast of stars from around the world. The show is educational and loads of fun, and no visit to the park is complete without seeing the show.
This special family and their friends will be treated to this incredible experience.
You'll find the Umgeni River Bird Park at 490 Riverside Road in Durban. Phone: 031 5794601.
Kim Lightening and Douglas Khaled, Franchise Managers from Debonairs Pizza (https://www.debonairspizza.co.za/), also jumped on board the minute they heard about little Luthando.
It'll be every type of pizza you can imagine, cool drinks, balloons, and sweets galore - and a party the two boys will never forget, all arranged by Kim and Douglas!
And, to just make life a little bit easier for Nellie and her two boys, they also received an additional spoil of a voucher from Debonairs Pizza.

Thank you, Nabeelah, for writing in to tell us about Luthando, and a massive thank you to Kim, Doug, and Werner who have given so willingly to make this little fighter's birthday so special.
