Amidst all the sexual assault allegations of actors in Hollywood, actress Demi Moore is being criticised for a video which has resurfaced 30 years later.

Over the past few months, the buzzwords thrown around in Hollywood include 'assault', 'rape', and 'harassment' - words that we should not be hearing and shouldn't be seen as acceptable, ever!
Accusations of assault and harassment aimed at media mogul Harvey Weinstein sent shockwaves through Hollywood, with many celebrities coming forward to talk openly about their stories and what happened to them. Thus, the #MeToo campaign was born - a platform for victims to talk openly about misconduct that has happened to them over the decades - naming and shaming those who have caused them harm and allowing those who have been too afraid to speak up before to do so.

Amidst all the accusations, American actress Demi Moore is now in the spotlight and many are criticising her for a video which was shot in 1982, but only just recently surfaced.
According to Independent, the video was shot in 1982 at a 15th birthday party for her co-star Philip Tanzini, who starred alongside her in the popular TV series, General Hospital. Demi, who was 19 at the time, is seen passionately kissing Tanzini and even professing her love for him, He, in turn, adds that they are going to 'get married'.
Many have criticised the actor and some even went to the extent of calling this harassment. In my opinion, yes, the video does seem a bit strange and a bit out of the ordinary, but it also got me thinking. What happens if the roles were reversed? How would society react to a 19-year-old man kissing a 15-year-old boy?
Either way, in my books, harassment of any sort should not be taken lightly. Society and the government need to start doing more to expose perpetrators who violate individuals and need to provide more platforms for those affected to speak up. I have come across too many stories, both local and international, from victims of harassment who have said that they were too afraid to speak up. I say, 'no more fear!'. Perpetrators must be brought to book. Society cannot continue living in fear to speak up for what has happened to them.

Back to Demi's video. Although it is not certain where exactly in the USA the video was shot, much like South Africa, they too have an age of consent. There are specific laws on the specific age of consent depending on the state the 'act' took place in. However, many have still said that it does not look natural for her to behave the way she did in this video.
I have put the video below for you to watch and be the judge. Skip to 01:22 to see the first kiss, 01:49 for the second, and 04:36 for the third.
Warning: This video may not be suitable for sensitive viewers.
Are people overreacting by criticising her for this video or is there more to it than meets the eye? I'd love to hear what you think?
