A WWI bomb exploded on a couple's honeymoon and injured the bride...

One of the most horrific honeymoon stories we have ever heard...
When we think about honeymoons, we get excited, it is generally a time for couples to celebrate their union and enjoy that feeling of excitement that comes with just getting married.
But not all honeymoons are equal. Sometimes in life there are unforeseen circumstances that arise and it is out of our control. That is what happened to a couple who went to the Carpathian Mountains in the Ukraine, to celebrate their marriage with friends and family.
Norbert Varga and Lidiia Makarchuk were joined by ten others, including two children, to celebrate their union. And whilst they were sitting around a campfire, sharing stories, what is believed to be a bomb from World War I went off.
"They started a fire to keep warm, in a place where many other campers had started a fire previously. Suddenly, there was an explosion that came from the ground underneath the fire. The bomb is thought to be from the time of the Brusilov Offensive in 1916, a campaign waged by Russia against Austria-Hungary." (Business Insider)
The bride suffered major burns to her hands, legs, and face, while her brother and another man died from the blast. Emergency services took one and a half hours to get to the location and this could've been a contributing factor in their deaths.
In one second I felt like someone had taken a rock and thrown it in my face, in my nose especially," Makarchuk told the Mail. "Then I had a whistling in my ears followed by a silence where I could hear only myself. I turned away and covered my face with my hands and started praying for myself. Then I realized it wasn't just me. Everyone was moaning, everyone was in pain.- Lidiia Makarchuk
"Makarchuk also said she could hear her brother's gasps for air, and that she regrets not telling him that she loved him." (Business Insider)
Her words really knock a sense of reality into us, it just shows how life is so unpredictable and that every moment should be savoured. It doesn't really register until you have been through something traumatic, but we wanted to share this story with you.
As a reminder that nothing is set in stone, be thankful for each day that you have... #ThankfulTuesday
Donations to the value of R500,000 have been raised for the couple thus far.
