Would you sleep peacefully alongside predators?

The Shekinah Lion and Game Lodge allows guests to sleep 'safely' side-by-side with predators such as lions and tigers.

Sleeping with predators doesn't sound like a dream come true.

But it certainly does sound appealing to adrenaline junkies who are looking to interact with wildlife in a very intimate setting.

A video on social media grabbed our attention. At a game lodge in Vaalwater, Limpopo, we saw a man interacting with a lioness through a glass window. He was playful, and she was trying to play, too, but the thick glass confused her.

The man is at the Shekinah Lion and Game Lodge, which offers "a unique and luxurious safari experience".

"In an African first, you will embark on a truly authentic and intimate journey, sleeping safely side by side with predators in one of four exclusive private rooms in the heart of our predator enclosure. This unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity promises to create unforgettable memories." (Shekinah)

The use of the word 'safely' completely throws us off. We understand that there is thick glass between you and the lioness, lion or tiger, but perhaps the movie buff in us doesn't fully surrender to the idea of things running smoothly. There is no disrespect to this game lodge; that looks top-class.

Watch the video that started the journey into looking at this luxuriously unforgettable lodge.

According to the website, guests can sleep in a suite next to "majestic predators, including lions and tigers".

The current price per night is R12,500, which includes breakfast.
