We love the way this school welcomed their students and parents on the first day back...
As we reign in the third week of 2022, we are still on a high with the feelings of motivation. As parents and children prepare for back to school, the stresses of the every day hustle and bustle of life creeps in.
And so this school in the Free State did exactly what was needed, if not more, to uplift everyone's spirits. They took advantage of the potholes on the road and turned it into something positive.
The student council at Hoopstad High School decided to use the potholes in a way that was both motivational but also symbolic. They got together to plant flowers inside each of the potholes in front of their school.
"The school said on their Facebook page that these potholes have an alternative purpose for the school and that is to remind pupils to flower even if there are potholes in your path. The school's principal, Fanie Brink, says the student council wanted to kick off the school year with the theme - Flower." (Facebook)

We cannot think of a better way to start off the school year than by embracing the world with all it's imperfections. It not only teaches kids that life has some impediments along the way, but also teaches them that they can handle them.
It taught us that we should learn how to see beyond the pothole. So often we place so much of emphasis on being perfect, but the truth is that life can get messy, and we make the best out of our circumstances.
