"When Jacqui Mofokeng won Miss SA, it gave me hope"
Updated | By East Coast Radio
A woman with all the makings of a queen, Mrs Carol Ofori shares another milestone with us as the Voice of God at Miss South Africa on Sunday night.

Miss South Africa is the pinnacle of pageantry in Mzansi.
Described as "a leadership platform for ambitious young South African women", it has certainly been something of a vision for many young women from different walks of life. (Miss SA website)
For Carol Ofori, it was in 1993, when Jacqui Mofokeng won the title of Miss South Africa that the script changed.
We asked Carol Ofori for her fondest memory of Miss South Africa to set the scene for yet another milestone moment in her career.
My fondest memory was in 1993 when Jacqui Mofokeng won Miss South Africa. She was the first black woman to win it. I remember watching with my mum and it gave me so much pride and I just thought that one day I would be like her. It was such an auspicious occasion in the sense that, not only did it give hope to millions and millions and millions of black children that one day they too could wear the crown, but it gave me hope as well that in my life I could also one day wear the crown.- Carol Ofori

Maybe she wasn't able to wear the crown, but alongside the vivacious Bonang Matheba, she was the Voice of God at the Miss South Africa 2023 pageant.
And the honour and prestige behind being that voice comes with a host of achievements, both in the industry and for her personally.
