Being a driver can be stressful when you think about all the cars on the roads around the country. Even more so when you hear about all the accidents that happen on a daily basis.
But more than that, when you find out that you can get fined for things you knew nothing about. Of course, it is our responsibility as drivers to make sure we are fully aware of all the necessary information before driving. But can we all honestly say we know everything?

The chief executive of Fine SA, Barry Berman told Business Tech: "Understanding how it works, especially the demerit system, is essential for all drivers because when drivers incur 16 or more demerit points, they lose their licence."
He went on to say that removing each demerit point takes three months and there are further consequences. Driving without a licence carries a fine of R3,500.
Berman added that this is directed more towards company fleet drivers, who do long haul trips. Many times the fines are only received late due to the postal delays, and the company's only have 32 days to nominate the driver.
