Kate Music shares some love for Pride Month...
We're all about celebrating people and their individuality. So when it came to Pride Month, we wanted to share some love for the LGBTQI+ community.
And so we reached out to one of our favourite woman crushes, who shared with us that it was very sensitive for her when it came to sharing her sexuality with her family.
Kate is a talented musician and songwriter and she was kind enough to answer some questions for us.
What is your first memory when it comes to knowing your sexuality?
So, one of my first memories when it came to knowing about my sexuality was 'Twilight'. So you know how everyone was obsessed with 'Twilight'? There was Team Edward versus Team Jacob, well, I always was Team Bella, you know...
How did you feel? Did you have someone to talk to about it?
At first it was very hard to feel anything but scared and conflicted. I didn't really have anyone to speak to except a close family friend, who listened and didn't make me feel judged.
What do you think young people from the LGBTQI+ need more of?
Something that I think that makes all the difference in the world is love, support, and protection. It is very terrifying for anyone to realise that they are different and without the right tools it can be catastrophic for many young queers.
How was it coming out to your family, especially coming from an Indian background?
Not only do I come from an Indian family but I come from a Christian family, so coming out to them was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. And there are still some people in my family that don't accept me and I honestly don't think they ever will, but I've just grown to live with that.

Share an inspiring message about the LGBTQI+ community...
From my perspective, it's essential that you're kind about this topic in front of family members and friends because you never know they could still be hidden in the closet and all they really need is that love and acceptance.
Kate has been so open and honest about her journey and we wanted to celebrate her today. Happy Pride Month and Happy Woman Crush Wednesday!
