There are many South African women that leave us in awe of their accomplishments.

They come from different fields, with different missions and visions. But one of the things that they all have in common is their willingness and openness to thriving and spreading their sparkle as they go.

One such woman is Dr Portia Ndlovu, an author, speaker, professor of International Maritime Business, lawyer, and businesswoman who hails from Durban, South Africa.

This woman has a host of achievements behind her name and is now based in Massachusetts, USA, where she serves the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Dr Ndlovu specialises in the legal principles of international trade laws, particularly in Maritime Law, which directly includes: International Commerce, International Trade, the Law of the Sea, Environmental Law, and International Diamond Trade Law subjects.

Interestingly, she has not only authored law books, accredited journals, and social commentary books, but also fiction and children's books.

Her most recent contribution is to the book, 'Ballast Water Management'.

The book is about managing the marine environment and aquatic invasive species which the entire world will understand better now that the world has seen how dangerous an organism can be to human lives following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Looking at her list of achievements in a field that doesn't receive the love and attention it deserves really does make us realise the importance of her contributions.

Not only in the field of study, but in the field of life.
