WCW: Jayshree Parasuramen on her recent award and DAME
Updated | By East Coast Radio
When the will to create change and empowerment fuse together, all you get is progress...
This week, Carol Ofori and the team celebrate one of our own, Jayshree Parasuramen.
From East Coast Radio and theatre to founding Women Empowering Women (WEW), Jayshree Parasuramen is a dynamic go-getter.
She was recently celebrated at the 23rd Amman Awards held at Mt Edgecomb Arts And Culture Venue.
It was here that she was awarded the 'Community Socio-Economic Upliftment: The multi-talented vibrant, energetic, community activist, philanthropist, bubbly media personality, artist and most important of all Role Model For Youngsters' award.
That's a mouthful, but certainly an award befitting a woman who uses her voice to advocate for women and youth.
"In 2022 she conceived a pilot project on a Women Motor Expo empowered by women, shining the light on women in the motor industry. Women have largely been marginalised by this industry, with very few opportunities being made available to them." (Supplied)

The pilot project attracted over 7,500 enthusiasts and has spectacularly evolved into the Durban Annual Motor Expo (DAME), which will be held this year at Durban ICC in July (28th to 30th).
Her efforts have been celebrated even more as she has an international profile now and has attracted the endorsement of SANTACO in admiration of her vision for Women and Youth Empowerment.
She has recently been selected as one of the top Women Of Wonder Stories in SA and seven other countries for the 2nd Edition Print that will be released internationally.
