WATCH: We look at an elephant on the hunt for leftover milk this World Elephant Day

Enkikwe, a young elephant, reminds us to pay homage to the humble elephant this World Elephant Day...
Elephants are those creatures that bring us joy, from stuffed toys that entertain our kids to their symbolism in many cultures and religions, they are seen as friendly and quite sacred. These animals are respected and revered by many people around the world and yet we are seeing such hardship when it comes to them existing peacefully and happily.
Today is World Elephant Day and it marks a significant time as we see our world being consumed with a fight, a fight with nature, a fight with our animals and wildlife, and even a fight amongst the people. There's nothing new here, but with days like this, we feel like it's now more important than ever to make an effort to help conserve our animal life, because ultimately without them, we will not survive...
We admire elephants in part because they demonstrate what we consider the finest human traits: empathy, self-awareness, and social intelligence. But the way we treat them puts on display the very worst of human behavior.- Graydon Carter, Editor of Vanity Fair
Things like poaching, conservation of elephant habitats, and better treatment of captive elephants are all important factors when it comes to the betterment of these beautiful and majestic creatures.
World Elephant Day asks you to experience elephants in non-exploitive and sustainable environments where elephants can thrive under care and protection. On World Elephant Day, August 12, express your concern, share your knowledge and support solutions for the better care of captive and wild elephants alike. (WED Website)
We saw this video on Twitter and thought it offered us both some humour and a true indication of what these creatures offer. The poaching of ivory is understated a lot of the time, and that's because as humans we face one of the deadly sins of greed, it takes over us and when did it become okay to choose fashion over life?
Watch this young elephant named Enkikwe helping himself to a crate of leftover milk. Smart doesn't do justice to these trunky, big-footed dudes that definitely need more love...
