This hairdresser is doing her bit to save the planet... one follicle at a time.
Adele Williams from Green Wave Hair Salon is making headlines for her mats made from human hair.
Did you know that human hair can soak up many times its own weight when placed in oil?

After cutting her customers' hair, Adele collects it and feeds it into a special machine; the machine then weaves the hair into a mat.
If you don't believe us, watch the video of the process below, which includes a demonstration of how the mat soaks up motor oil.

According to the World Economic Forum, oil spills have a devastating effect on the environment. Not only does it kill animals by poisoning and suffocating them, but it also contaminates food consumed by animals.
These animals are then consumed by humans, thus creating a cycle of health risks amongst animals and humans alike.
