A father publicly punished his daughter for her inappropriate online behaviour - and it has gone viral...
Being a parent can be challenging. That's besides questioning whether or not you are doing it right, or even if there is a right way to do it. The questioning never really stops, but we do what we can and most of the time just following our instincts and knowing what we don't want to do helps.
Many parents will tell you different stories when it comes to parenting teenagers, you either completely relate in your styles of parenting or you are on opposite sides of the globe. Whatever it is, we have learned that comparing and shaming other parents isn't productive, we are all different and we are allowed to have our own way of doing things.
Be that as it may, nowadays with the added element of social media, it can be challenging to parent without everyone, yes, everyone having an opinion. Whether that means they agree or disagree with you, that's not the point here, the aim is to parent the way you and your partner see fit.
On that note, we saw a story online about a father that decided to punish his daughter in a very public manner. In an age where many teenagers (in South Africa, the stats are even younger, pre teens) are getting pregnant, where rape and child pornography are real, and where molestation and trafficking is a part of our social existence, we have to say that he probably felt he needed to teach his 15-year-old a big lesson.

We were unable to locate the original post on TikTok, but we did see from the above video that many people agreed with the father's way of punishing his daughter. It makes us think about our own childhoods and how many of us as teenagers were in such a hurry to grow up.
So as much as we feel for this young girl, we do understand the father's intentions here. He wanted to teach her that there are repercussions to one's actions, as everything comes with its own set of consequences.
