WATCH: Doctors remove 2.7kg of hair from an 11-year-old's stomach

This is a serious condition that affects many people...
There are many things in this world that we know nothing about, actual health issues that are affecting people around the world. One of those health issues is a stress disorder called Rapunzel Syndrome.
"Rapunzel syndrome is an extremely rare intestinal condition in humans resulting from ingesting hair. The syndrome is named after the long-haired girl Rapunzel in the fairytale by the Brothers Grimm." (Wikipedia)
This may seem like a weird phenomenon, purely because it isn't very familiar, but it is real and it affects real people who need help. A recent video that was shared on Twitter, showed a surgery that was done on an 11-year-old girl who suffers from Rapunzel Syndrome.
We must say that the video wasn't pleasant to watch, but realising the effects of stress certainly was. It jolted us into a reality that wasn't pretty, physically showing us what stress can create.

Doctors in Chechnya removed more than 6 pounds of hair from the stomach of this 11-year-old with Rapunzel syndrome, a condition where one chews and swallows the ends of hair, usually due to stress.

We weren't the only ones who thought so, one person commented saying that they hope this young girl from Chechnya could get the help she needs to overcome this syndrome.
Because seeing the effects of stress in an eleven-year-old is a huge eye-opener to all of us.
Yikes! Also I hope that child gets the help & support they need in order to prevent this from happening again. 6lbs of hear worth of stress on an 11 year old is very concerning

Everyday we go through some sort of experience that may challenge us as adults, but to hear that children are suffering with their mental health to the point that they consume their own hair equating to almost 3kg, that is scary.
Today, we ask you to take some time out for you, whether that means just acknowledging and appreciating your breath, do something that allows you to let go of whatever you are worrying about (shake it off) and be present and grateful for the moment you have.
