Is this the ultimate tribute to our Golden Girl Tatjana Smith?
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Tatjana Smith is a sporting hero... and when it comes to celebrating our sporting heroes, there is one cheerleader who knows how to pop the proverbial champagne.
Monday night was a rather glorious night for South Africa, don't you think? There was a certain golden sparkle to it...
Well, that's firmly down to South African swimming sensation Tatjana Smith, who became the 100m breaststroke Olympic champion!
Yes, you go, girl!

Not content with her amazing performance at the last Olympics in Tokyo - where she won a gold and silver, Smith wanted to do it all again and prove to the world that South Africans are amazing in every single way.
And she did just that, beating some fierce competition to go one step further in an event where she won silver in Tokyo.
South Africans have been celebrating her achievement all over social media, but when it comes to really driving the point home as far as South African sport is concerned, there is only one man for the job.
That man is Rory Petzer, and he is Bafana thanks and you...
CHAMPIONS! TATJANA SMITH! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I LOVE BEING SOUTH AFRICAN! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 pic.twitter.com/7v9JiSJLJK

Thank you, Rory. Well, for the words, maybe not the attire (or lack thereof)...

Tatjana's achievement
South Africans are beaming with pride after Tatjana Smith (née Schoenmaker) won the country's first gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Tatjana made an incredible comeback in the last quarter of the 100-metre breaststroke final to snatch gold from China's Tang Qianting.
She finished in 1:05.28. Tatjana now has back-to-back Olympic wins, having also had an impressive showing at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
The 27-year-old, swimming under her maiden surname at the time, won gold in the 200m breaststroke and silver in the 100m breaststroke.
It took a village to get me where I am today and I know that they would've been proud even if I didn't have a medal. But it was really for them. I swam for everyone that’s been there for me, that’s believed wit me, and for our country as well.- Tatjana Smith
