As we pay tribute to our Hindu community who are observing their holy months of Purtassi and Pitr Paksha, we wanted to take a moment to share some snack ideas.

Of course, when it comes to any sort of fast, it is important to take some time to reflect on the things that are important.

Purtassi and Pitr Paksha is a significant time for Hindus who abstain from meat during the holy month.

And during this month there will be moments when you might feel for a special tea-time snack.

So, we wanted to share some firm favourites from our community.

Pumpkin Fritters with Cinnamon
  • 500 ml cooked, mashed pumpkin
  • 130 ml cake flour
  • 10 ml baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • Substitute for egg - buttermilk (half cup)
  • Oil for frying
  • Cinnamon sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix the pumpkin, cake flour, baking powder, and salt together. Add the buttermilk and mix well. Heat oil in a frying pan and drop spoonfuls of the mixture into the pan.
