#ThankfulTuesday: You can be whatever you want to be... just ask Dr Yerner
Updated | By East Coast Radio
A strong mindset is truly something so powerful...
If you are a fan of the record-setting Netflix series 'Bridgerton', then you will know that women were not always in control of their own lives...
Some would argue that is still the case in many communities and countries around the world.
But we have to pay tribute to the women that have fought for the rest of us, and have overcome the limitations that society has placed on us.
And this is one such woman...
She comes from what some may call a 'limited thinking society', but she did not let that stop her from achieving her dreams.
Dr Asalet Yerner was married at 17. She gave birth to her first born at 18-years-old and after being told that a woman's place is at home, in the kitchen, she was determined to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor.

As much as she shared her story for the purposes to inspire and encourage others that mindset is everything, it seems she did receive some closed-mindedness from a Ms Khan, who actually seems to be a Mr.
Ms Khan wrote: "Mindset didn’t help you . Ur parents didn’t help you . Who help that is your husband and his family."
Dr Asalet replied: "Lol did they sit my exams for me too? Or go to work as a Doctor in my place since I’m so redundant 🤦🏻♀️"
Ms Khan added: "No they didn’t . But after marrige if he didn’t allow u to study’s and take care of kids u can’t sit in exam . And no one support u against his dec."
This Ms Khan seems to be stuck in some warfare when it comes to the success of women. Perhaps it is ignorance or the inability to properly express himself/herself, but we are happy that Dr Asalet did not further entertain the commentary.
In fact, it was other TikTokers that came to her aid.
Ess said: "YOU did all this. Even if u didn't have the husband and kids you'd have made it happen. This is all you and you're inspirational! 👑"
Jessica added: "You think a man ALLOWING a woman to study is SUPPORT? Wow the bar is low for men."
