#ThankfulTuesday: A warm welcome to 'SpongeBob SquarePants' in isiZulu
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Certainly a welcome surprise for isiZulu speaking kids and their friends...
There are many things in this world that have impacted us when it comes to having and sharing content that resonates with our upbringing.
For the most part, reading something or watching something that has been tailor-made to your dialect is celebrated.
Mostly because it is associated with pride. With a part of us that is deeply connected to our heritage, our roots, and our culture.
"The little ones will get to see SpongeBob in their home language or a friend’s language. It’s a learn-along opportunity for the whole family, too, because all the Zulu dubbed episodes will also have English subtitles. With all the fun, they’ll soak up the language lessons like a…a sponge." (DStv)
It's something of a long-awaited achievement to hear a childhood classic be dubbed in the language of our province.

Nickelodeon is not only committed to playing a role in diversifying edutainment for African youth.
They believe that by dubbing an iconic piece of content, such as 'SpongeBob SquarePants', they are unleashing value through the power of content.
The channel tested interest in this popular cartoon in July, during the character's birthday. The results were obviously well received as full episodes started this week at 3pm daily from Monday to Friday, with episodes available on Catch Up.
