#ThankfulTuesday: From six to over 100 employees - a bakery dream realised
Updated | By East Coast Radio
A story about dedication and maintaining your big break...

Thirty years ago, bakery businesses were still youthful. Nowadays, you find a small bakery in almost every suburb in the country.
So you can imagine that it was more difficult to enter the industry as a supplier. The means were not as widely open to everyone to become a supplier to the big retailers, as they may be now...
This bakery opened in 1995 and is just another example of what you can accomplish if you keep sticking to it.
"Crispe Cookies, a bakery based in Cape Town, has supplied cakes and other confectionaries to the Shoprite group for almost 30 years, and today employs more than 100 employees thanks to the relationship with the giant retailer." (Business Insider)
What's even better is that around 80% of their goods go to Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets.
They used to supply small bakeries with 20ltr buckets of biscuits. In 1997, they started supplying Shoprite and Checkers with milk tarts and four variations of cakes - one of which is their famous chocolate and vanilla cake, which has become a firm fav for customers for more than 26 years.
