Teacher: "Don't forget to pack your child's manners..."

Teacher: "Don't forget to pack your child's manners..."

A subtly unsubtle way to remind parents that respect begins in the home...

It's the end of the long weekend, and while some of us (especially the kids) might still be riding the sugar high from all those Easter eggs, it’s time to gear up for the return to school and work routines.

April has been packed with holidays, which may have disrupted children’s regular school rhythm. This can sometimes lead to a little extra fussiness that carries over into the classroom.

A teacher recently shared a video reminding parents to send their kids back to school with their manners intact.

Although the clip was originally posted after the earlier school break this month, the message feels just as relevant now, as kids head back to class after another extended break.

We think he meant it jovially and didn't intend to offend any parent. Because let's be fair, we're not at school with our kids to monitor everything they say or do.

Here are some of our favourite comments:

  • "I always tell my kids that teachers r their parents at school while I am not around."

  • "Thankfully, both my boys' teachers gave me a good report on their manners... But at home, I wonder if it's the same kids they're talking about."

  • "We do, they probably leave it at the school gate in the morning..."

  • "Well Said, Mr Watson, it starts at home. Discipline is not a subject."

  • "Well said, Mr Watson, I agree with this sentiment 100%. It's sad to see the behaviour and disrespect some kids display at our schools."

  • "Packed already."

Mr Watson received some backlash on social media and took the time to address one comment in particular. The commenter suggested he filmed the video during school hours.
