Students in the Philippines wear creative anti-cheating hats
Updated | By Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
These anti-cheating hats don't just discourage cheating among students, they also promote academic integrity.

As we wiggle our toes and settle back into school routines, we came across a fun (and clever practice) from the Philippines that’s too good not to share.
To stop wandering eyes during exams, some schools ask students to make their own “anti-cheating” hats. According to My Modern Met, these hats range "from functional and resourceful to funny and creative".
Students can get pretty inventive when it comes to cheating. But instead of outsmarting the system, these schools let them channel that creativity into hat-making instead.

It’s a fun and creative way to stop cheating, while encouraging students to take ownership of their work.
Often, students cheat not because they’re lazy, but because they’re anxious. They want to pass and worry they won’t remember what they studied.
These “anti-cheating” hats help them focus, reduce temptation, and promote a sense of conscious integrity.
Of course, not every student cheats out of panic. Some just didn’t study. One commenter even joked that the hats could hide cheat sheets instead of stopping them.
That’s why the design matters. Schools in the Philippines ask students to make their own anti-cheating hats – ones that block their view of classmates’ papers.
The only rule? Cover your surroundings. Beyond that, students are free to be as practical, silly, or creative as they like. The result is a classroom full of laughs, less stress, and a whole lot of personality.

Professor Mary Joy Mandane Ortiz shared that what’s normally a stressful time for students turned into something fun and uplifting.
Instead of exam anxiety, her classroom was filled with laughter and creativity.
Professor Angelo Ebora also joined in on the fun. He asked his students to stick to an agricultural theme for their hats – to help them connect more deeply with the subject.
They took the idea and ran with it, surprising him with their imagination and effort, which made him proud.
