Learning how to be self-sufficient, whether male or female, should be mandatory in all schools.

Traditionally, we live in a world that has taught women to believe they should mind the home while the man goes out and makes the money.

Thankfully, this ideology has evolved over the years, breaking down traditional society's close-minded thinking. Although some people still practice this thinking in their lives, gender equality has become more prevalent in our teachings these days.

We appreciated seeing the Spanish School Colegio MonteCastelo practise the values of gender equality for their students.

Watching young teens learn how to cook, sew, iron, and clean at school was inspiring. Education shouldn't just focus on academics but should also feature life skills that help both males and females in their day-to-day lives.

They say it is a parent's job to empower their kids with the knowledge they need to live without them. However, not all parents practice this, which is challenging to implement.

However, with Montessori education, for instance, we see a rise in kids learning to care for themselves from a young age.

"The school includes lessons in home economics, among other subjects. During these lessons, its male students would be taught tasks like ironing, sewing, cooking, and other manual activities like carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrician skills." (Bright Side)

It is important to note that these household skills benefit both sexes regardless of their circumstances and should be normalised and standardised in society.
