Finding a job in South Africa has always been an uphill battle for many people, whether or not they are skilled.
But finding the right fit doesn't just come from having a specific skill set; it comes with a host of work experience. Michael Page, a professional recruitment company, released a salary guide for 2024 that outlines a variety of salaries for professionals in South Africa.
South Africa skated through narrowly to avoid a recession in Q1 of 2024; it is favourable to note that many businesses are still looking for professional skills and are willing to pay.
Paul Newman, the operating director at Michael Page, said: "Considering the higher cost of living and depleting disposable income, candidates are prioritising higher salary increases above all else when considering new job offers. Amidst these economic dynamics, the market increasingly needs seasoned professionals with strong technical skills.” (Business Tech)
There is a demand for technical expertise in the areas of technology, renewable energy sectors, sales, and general business leadership. Sadly, as much as the demand is present, jobs are tough to come by. Newman notes that top-paying jobs remain in the finance sector, banking, IT, sales and marketing, engineering, procurement and supply chain in South Africa.
Look at the top-paying jobs in the above sectors as broken down by salary expectation.
