"Representation matters!" Carol Ofori chats about the brown Elf on the Shelf®!

And so, it was so exciting to hear Carol Ofori share that she found a brown Elf on the Shelf® this Christmas.
She put it so eloquently when she said: "Representation Matters"
"The Elf on the Shelf® is a Christmas tradition centered around Scout Elves who fly to the North Pole each night. Scout Elves arrive at homes in a keepsake box set that features a storybook.
The book explains that elves love to report to Santa to tell him about each day’s activities! The best part? Kids love to maintain their best behavior when their Scout Elf is around. This way they are sure to be on Santa’s nice list!" (Elf on the Shelf)
It is important for kids to see characters such as The Elf on the Shelf® that look more like them.
Not only does it show them that they belong and have a community, but it allows them to feel validated and acknowledged.

If you would like to start your own The Elf on the Shelf® tradition, then you can. Just follow these steps:
- Adopt an official Scout Elf.
- Read the book as a family to understand the tradition and rules.
- Name your elf.
The scout elves are said to be great listeners and little ones can share their wishes and secrets with them as often as they like.
But these helpers have to return to the North Pole on Christmas Eve to help Santa prepare for Christmas.
