Parents lose court battle to keep their son on life support after he was declared "brain-stem dead"
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Parents, beware of the effects of social media behaviour with your kids...
There is no amount of anything that could stop fighting for their child's life.
It is something that lives deep inside each parent, something that drives you to do anything and everything you possibly can to ensure that your child's interests are prioritised.
So we can understand why these parents tried to jump through every hoop to fight for their son's chance at life. Even though the medical professionals and the law said otherwise...
It was so difficult just reading the headline about this story so we cannot imagine how difficult it must be for the parents.
Archie Battersbee, a 12-year-old boy was taken off life support after a months long battle with the court. His parents were trying to get the court's help in keeping him on life support despite the hospital's decision not to.
After "Hollie Dance, Battersbee's mother, found the boy unconscious in April when she returned home. He had placed a cord around his neck, possibly as a result of participation in a hazardous online asphyxiation game." (MSN)

Archie's mother told the media that her son had passed away two hours after the ventilators were stopped.
After seeking help from the court, the family were dejected as the judge ruled that considering Archie's 'brain-stem dead' state, keeping him on life support would be withdrawn.
"Battersbee's family argued that he could benefit from treatment in Italy or Japan and took their case to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, which declined to intervene for a second time..." (MSN)

It just goes to show that keeping an eye out for older kids is just as important as younger ones. We tend to digress from paying full attention to our kids as they grow, because they become more responsible and independent.
But it seems with the rise of unsolicited content on social media, it is not safe for us to leave them unattended.
Imagine what these parents must be feeling now?
