PARENTING: A video of a man working with his baby strapped to him goes viral
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Should it be normalised bringing your kid to work if you do not have childcare?
A video of a man who works at Subway shows him carrying a baby with a baby carrier, whilst making a sandwich for a customer. At first it is assumed that he is a working father who was unable to get help with childcare.
But that just demonstrates how the human mind can associate certain things when they are posed in a certain way. In fact, the video, which was posted to TikTok, sparked a very interesting conversation that pushed people to think about childcare and working.

The assumption was wildly incorrect in these circumstances. It was revealed in the comments section that the TikToker who posted the video is actually a single mother of the baby and the man in the video is her ex-co-worker and friend.
She revealed that she used to work at this Subway and went to visit and also grab a bite to eat. She then handed her baby over to her friend, who proceeded to make her a sandwich, and he kept baby occupied while she ate her food.
Check out her explanation video below. She did this to explain to everyone the situation as people wanted to send money to her friend, thinking that he was a father working with his baby. (Courtesy of TikTok):

Many people came through with positive feedback, saying that this should be normalised. Being able to bring your child to work, because you cannot afford childcare should be a thing, while others said, if he gets fired for working whilst holding his child, then they would fight for him.
Leslie Munoz, the TikToker and mother, was pleased with the response. In fact, she said that the feedback was so positive and helpful as she was preparing to start work soon and it helped her as she couldn't afford childcare nor does she trust someone to care for her baby.
I just thought it’d be funny if I got him making my sandwich on TikTok,” she said. “Hundreds of people made so many assumptions which was dope to see, how a video was able to start so many conversations. I myself am about to start work and don’t trust/afford a babysitter so it was interesting to see people’s opinions on this topic that I myself did not mean to start up.- Leslie Munoz
