Only in Overport: Woman rides mobility scooter on busy street
Updated | By East Coast Radio
'They see me rollin', They hatin', Patrollin', and tryna catch me ridin' dirty..." We can literally hear this Chamillionaire song playing in the background...
As South Africans, there is never a dull moment for us.
There is always someone defying the rules and unintentionally becoming the talk of the town.
And this time it was a woman who decided that riding her mobility scooter around the busy streets of Overport, Durban was a good idea.
In a video that is circulating on the eThekwini Secure group on Facebook, we see her stopped at the traffic light located on Brickfield Road.
She patiently waits for the other cars to go before making a turn into Sparks Road.
This is what senior superintendent Boysie Zungu from Durban Metro Police told TimesLIVE on Tuesday: “This should not be used on a public road. Only vehicles that have licence discs are permitted on these roads. Bicycles are permitted on a public road but not this."

As much as there is a legal side to the rules of the road, many people commented saying that this may likely be her only way of commuting.
Some hailed her for making 'boss' moves, while others said that she is quite elderly and is causing danger to herself and others.
One person said that it was difficult for people like her to move around on the pavements, as they are not equipped with lowered curbs.
