Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
South Africa is set to shrink its school holidays in 2024.
The Department of Basic Education has gazetted the confirmed school calendar for 2024.
This would add to the calendar that's already on display for 2023, which was published earlier this year.

According to the new gazette, there will be fewer school holidays in 2024.
The calendar makes provision for just 25 days off. Now if you do your comparison to other years, it boils down seven days less than next year and eight days less than in 2022.
The Education Department has had to make these changes to make up for losses felt during the COVID-19 pandemic.
