Meet LaToya ‘Lioness’ Mwoombola: The doctor by day who raps at night
Updated | By East Coast Radio
LaToya ‘Lioness’ Mwoombola is a medical doctor and also a rapper...
We love celebrating women. As we have just ended off a beautiful Women's Month, we had to take a moment to celebrate this African woman who makes us believe that anything is possible.
Latoya 'Lioness' Mwoombola is a Namibian-born medical doctor, but wait, get this, she is also a rapper. She has an established career in both her passions and has managed to make time for both with some sound advice, saying that she keeps both her professions separate.
WATCH her music video dedicated to her mother below (courtesy of YouTube):
"This is a tribute to all those who lost a mother/ mother figure. I hope this song brings you comfort."
"Latoya released her first album as Lioness in 2018, the same year she graduated from the University of Namibia with a medical degree," MSN reports.
She spoke about how she always wanted to be a performer and was inspired by 90s R&B and Hip Hop artists. She even looked up to artists such as Dolly Parton and Elton John.
I never really thought of being a rapper or doctor. I just always wanted to be able to perform. It was the love of my life and still is.- Latoya Mwoombola
She is the true epitome of going for what you want. It's sometimes easy to get sucked into a way of life and get comfortable in the normal. But without consciously knowing it, we become complacent and stop pursuing what it is we love doing.
Let's use Latoya's story as the motivation that we all need. Get up and do what you want to do, find the time, and go knocking on all the doors so that you can get to where you want to be.
