A mother of seven sets of twins in the seventh month of this year...
We all felt like the wool was pulled over our eyes a few months ago when a woman from Tembisa allegedly gave birth to ten babies. Of course, this went on for a few weeks before we found out the truth behind it all.
The media frenzy and the memes, the trending hashtags, all were a hoax. The woman and her husband were actually not pregnant with ten babies. The reporter was also in some hot water for releasing the news without any confirmation. It all seemed like it was out of a book...
Well, this is nothing like that time, so you don't have to wait with bated breath. The Ahmed Al-Kadi Hospital, situated in Mayville, Durban, announced that they have helped birth seven sets of twins, and get this, in the seventh month of the year.
"Hospital manager, Ebrahim Asmal, said there were three sets of twin girls, three sets of twin boys and a pigeon pair." (IOL) A pigeon pair is a set of a boy and a girl. If you are like us and thought that this was one mom, it's not. So in the month of July, this year, mothers, Nadia Bux, Atina Lawela, Hlengiwe Xaba, Aysegul Kaygusuz, and Yandiswa Macingwane all became moms to twins.
Sister Kantha Naidoo, Unit Manager of AAK Maternity ward, said she and her team are super proud to be part of this magical time.
"Seven sets of twins, made up of seven beautiful baby boys and seven girls in the seventh month of the year. We cannot help but smile and enjoy such wonderful and magical memories created," she told IOL.
The birth of a baby is a heart-warming time, bringing hope, joy, happiness and all things positive and we are so proud to be a part of this magical time with every patient who chooses us to be a part of this special journey.- Ebrahim Asmal
In a time where we are trying to search for things that leave us feeling hopeful, uplifted, and excited, we are happy to hear about the excitement that babies bring to everyone. So, thank you, Ahmed Al-Kadi for sharing in the good news and all the bundles of joy that these parents will be experiencing.
Oh, before we go, the hospital also said that they announced 10 girls in 48 hours earlier in July, just what we needed to hear this Women's Month. Girl power!
