Whenever we get a chance to celebrate our 'Africaness' we jump at it and this Africa Day we decided to celebrate in a big way! Besides appreciating our heritage and our love for our continent, we are proud and boastful of the amazing talent and pure ingenuity that Africans from all over the world possess.

Carol Ofori, a passionate African woman, went full gear when it came to lining up something amazing this Africa Day. She wasn't accepting anything less than something huge. And you know what they say - if you ask, you shall receive.

Cue Africa Day Concert 2021!

The Africa Day Concert 2021 is brought to us by MTV Base, YouTube, and the one, the only, Idris Elba (blushing face). This event was said to show off a wave of Africa's celebrated talent and also pay tribute to some of Africa's emerging talent.

With the likes of iconic and legendary musician Angelique Kidjo, Congolese singer-songwriter Fally Ipupa, and the legendary internationally-renowned South African artist Yvonne Chaka Chaka, amongst others.

So what's the big news? Well, we announced it on Monday, but in case you missed it, Carol Ofori has managed to get an interview with Idris Elba and we don't know if you can tell, but we are all super excited!

Idris Elba, a London-born actor, rapper, DJ, writer, singer, and songwriter has always shared his passion for Africa. Carol Ofori got to chat with him about why he decided to get involved with Africa Day.

He is involved in this event because he feels like there is so much to celebrate about being African - the talent, the growth, and development.

He considers himself a proud African and he resonated with the theme of this year's Africa Day. The next wave is important to him because the future is always around the corner, and keeping one door open is always something that he has practised.
