KZN's biggest family walk filled with Fun, Fitness & Community
Updated | By East Coast Radio
KZN never disappoints when it comes to the turnout and the turn-up!
This year we have lots to be grateful for. Yesterday was a classic example of that. As we saw 20,000 participants grace us with their presence at the Suncoast East Coast Radio (ECR) Big Walk.
Nothing made us happier than seeing KZN'ers getting excited about joining each other at KZN's biggest family event.
Families, friends, work teammates, schools, NGOs, and individuals from all walks of life came together to get their step count in for the day. And what better way to get some exercise in than near the ocean.
The event kicked off at the vibrant uShaka Marine World, where ECR presenters kept the walkers entertained along the different routes. Participants were refreshed at various stations by aQuellé, ensuring they remained hydrated throughout.
The Big Walk represented something different to everyone who participated. Some did it as a fun Father's Day outing for their dads, others did memory of their fathers.
But regardless of the reasons, it was the sense of togetherness and laughter that really imprinted us.
"Among the many highlights of the event, the one that stood out was the remarkable impact of The Big Favour Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiative. Phantane Athletics Club was chosen as the beneficiary by both ECR and Suncoast, receiving a generous cash donation of R100,000. This incredible accomplishment was made possible by the commitment of each participant who purchased a Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk ticket."

From spot prizes, Zumba classes and stretching exercises, a colourful play area for the kids, and a host of entertainment from the boys at Kearsney Choir, pantsula dancers, Survivor Dancers and J Sbu, passing the finish line wasn't the end of things.
The vibe was definitely filled with fun, excitement, appreciation, a sense of hearty community and the need to give back.
Boni Mchunu, the ECR Managing Director, expressed her overwhelming pride and gratitude for the success of the event, stating, "We are truly humbled by the incredible turnout of over 20,000 people at the Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk. Witnessing such a massive gathering of individuals coming together to participate in this event was heartwarming. We hope you enjoyed the experience as much as we enjoyed executing it for you."
Altogether the Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk reminded us that when it comes to community, KZN delivers with their turnout and their turn-up!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to join us yesterday, and for reiterating the spirit of being part of a community such as KZN.
