KZN NPO distributes sanitary pads to Merebank school girls

Roshni Naicker is the founder of SAVE the Dignity of Our Girls in School, a non-profit organisation that believes every girl should have access to essential sanitary pads.

No girl should have to miss school because she lacks access to sanitary pads.
This is the driving belief behind SAVE the Dignity of Our Girls, a non-profit organisation founded by Roshni Naicker.
For many young girls, managing their menstrual cycle without basic healthcare remains a daily struggle. Without access to sanitary pads, some are forced to miss school, impacting their education and confidence.
Recognising this challenge, Naicker and her organisation are working to change the narrative. It was heartwarming to see her personally distribute sanitary pads to Grade 6 and 7 girls at Alipore Primary School in Merebank, ensuring they have the resources they need to attend school with dignity.
The programme and distribution took place on February 25, 2025, and included a health talk by Mediskills Healthcare Academy founder Allison Andrews.
Andrews spoke to the learners about the importance of maintaining good menstrual hygiene and overall feminine health, emphasising its vital role in the well-being of adolescent girls.
"Breaking the social stigma around menstruation is important. Open discussions create healthier conditions for women and girls," Andrews said.
As a community, we must support non-profit organisations and
healthcare professionals in their mission to break the stigma around
menstruation.
Naicker expressed her gratitude for the donations and sponsorships that made this distribution possible but emphasised that the initiative requires ongoing support.
Anyone who wishes to contribute to SAVE the Dignity of Our Girls in School can contact Naicker at 079 565 1567.
Sanitary pad donations can also be dropped off at Dr Radhambal Kandasamy’s practice at 104 Tomango Road, Merebank.
Naicker is currently preparing for her next initiative on International Women's Day, March 8, 2025, and welcomes any contributions to help support schoolgirls in need.
